The only film making festival dedicated to bringing artist's visions of the universe to the UFO capital of the world.

Held every year, The Roswell Galacticon is the UFO capital’s version of a “Comic Con”, complete with famous guest personalities, amazing booths full of art and merchandise, fun events for the whole family, and costumes galore!

This cosmically proportioned event started in 2011 and has grown over the years in participation and media coverage, including earning Outstanding New Event of the Year at the 2012 New Mexico Tourism Industry Recognition Awards during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell Dean of Media Arts and award winning filmmaker, Alan Trever, heads up the Roswell SciFi Film Fest - the other half of the Con weekend.  This unique Film Fest accepts movie submissions from around the world in the SciFi and Fantasy genre that are juried and then compete for several category awards.

The juried films are shown to the public over the weekend and the winners receive award certificates, industry laurels and in some cases, prizes.

The Roswell Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Fest is the only film making festival dedicated to bringing artist's visions of the universe to the UFO capital of the world. On July 8th, 1947 the wreckage of an unidentified object was recovered in Roswell, NM. The mysterious nature of the object and the ensuing attempts by various government agencies to minimize the incident led many to believe the craft had incredible significance, from possibly being a top-secret military weapon to it even being a captured extraterrestrial ship.

Whatever the truth, the mystery surrounding the incident has captured the imaginations of generations and inspired legions of storytellers to find their own take on the incident. From films and TV shows to books, comic books, and collectibles of all kinds, the crash at Roswell remains one of the great sources of inspiration for imaginations of all kinds.

The Roswell SciFi Film Fest accepts finished films in the feature (running time over 60 minutes) and short (running time under 60 minutes) for entrance into its film competition. Films should be Sci-Fi, fantasy, thriller, or supernatural in nature. The Roswell SciFi Film Fest accepts narrative, documentary, and animation in short or feature lengths.
